Happy New Year!

If you're like me, than chances are you're probably going to a club or a party for New Year's Eve. The last thing you want however is a makeup meltdown! So just follow these steps to look gorgeous all night long and into the New Year!

1. If you plan on wearing glitter on your eyes, try to keep the rest of your makeup matte. This way the attention is focused on your eyes and you don't end up looking like a disco ball.

Note: be sure to clean up any excess glitter with scotch tape

1. Remember that glitter and shimmer show up really well on camera, so don't apply it where you don't want it! Overapplying it will make your whole face look shiny and that's not what you want for good pictures.

2. To keep your lipstick lasting throughout the night, be sure to line your lips, then apply lipstick, blot, and apply a second coat. For extra long lasting power, after applying liner, place a tissue over your lips and lightly dust on loose powder before applying a second coat.

3. Prevent your eyeliner from melting by applying a matching eyeshadow on top to seal in the liner.

4. If you have oily skin, be sure to carry blotting papers with you to blot off the excess before taking pictures.

I hope you all have a safe and Happy New Year! See you in 2010!

~Sephora Purchase~

So I finally redeemed my online gift certificate to Sephora, boy, that was exhausting! I seriously spent like two days trying to decide what to buy. I think the reason it took me so long is because since I can't see anything in person, I'm hesitant to buy it because I don't want to end up regretting it later. I was so mad too, I went to visit my sister and we went to Sephora which was like an hour away from her house, and we get there and it's just  a mini one in the middle of J.C. Penneys! I was so mad because they didn't have anything that I wanted, and the whole reason I went there was so I could pick out my MUFE HD  foundation shade in person so I could match it right. I ended up ordering it online still, I just pray that it's the right shade because I've seriously been dying to try it! And I hope it lives up to all the hype :P Another mini rant, I placed my order on 12/29/09 and I paid for 3 day shipping. Then I get my tracking order # and it says that it's not supposed to arrive until 1/05/10. Now maybe my math is off, but isn't that a whole week and not three days? What was the point of me paying for 3 day shipping if it doesn't even arrive in 3 days? Grrrr...I'm so impatient :(

New Year's Resolutions

So as this year draws to a close, it's time to start thinking about what I want to improve in my life for next year. My goals are pretty much the same as every year, but there are a few additions to this coming year:

1. Diet and exercise! This goal never changes or gets completed :P! And by dieting, I also mean eating healthier, not just less.

2. Find a good job that will work around my school schedule

3. Pay off my bills as much as possible! This also never changes :(

4. Become more organized

5. Take better care of my skin and body and also get more sleep (something that has definitely been taking its toll!)

6. Save up money to visit my sister and mother in Korea!

I guess my ultimate goal is to just become the best person that I can be. I know that sounds kinda cheesy, but it's true!

What are some of your New Year's Resolutions?

Hi everyone,  I hope you all had a great holiday and got to spend lots of time with your loved ones! I know I did, and I am sad it is over :(  But I am definitely looking forward to the New Year! I just wanted to share some of the nice gifts that I got from my great family and friends

My lovely friend Brandy got me these things, she knows how much I love jewelry and cooking, and I am always complaining about being cold, so these gloves/mittens will definitely keep my hands warm! And even though I'm not really sure why she got me martini glasses, I still love them! (Last year she got me some great wine glasses, maybe she is trying to start a collection for me? )

My boyfriend's family got me a gift card to Sephora, which was so nice of them! I already spent it, which is why it's not in the picture, and I bought an Anastasia Brow Whiz eyebrow pencil (keep an eye out for a review!) , some Rosebud Salve, and Philosophy's Purity facial cleanser. The gift card came in a great little compact that has a huge mirror, I'm gonna keep this in my purse :)

My lovely sister got me the e.l.f. Lip Beauty Encyclopedia because she knew I had the one for eyes, and she knows I'm obsessed with Sex and the City, so she bought me Season 5 which I don't have yet (aha, maybe her and Brandy were sticking to a themed present, you know, giving me Sex and the City and some martini glasses so I can drink Cosmopolitans while watching it? hmmm, it's a thought! :) . She had also bought me clothes, but she actually bought me them before Christmas, so I've already been wearing them (she's so impatient when it comes to giving gifts, she always tells me ahead of time what she's getting me, even if I tell her not to!)

My other lovely sister sent me this cute sweatshirt from Korea, along with a little diary and an adorable jacket for my son! He's gonna look soooo cute in it! Great timing too, because I just lost his other jacket and can't find it :P

And last, but not least, my aunt gave me these adorable Hello Kitty earrings and necklace (she knows I'm obsessed with Hello Kitty!) and an egift certificate to Sephora which I still have yet to redeem (I'm so picky when it comes to ordering online!)

So those are a few goodies that I got, haha, I just noticed that everything is very girly and pink! I guess everyone knows me so well :) I hope you all had a great holiday, what are some gifts that you received?

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!

I would just like to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas (or whatever holiday you celebrate)!!! You have all been very warm and welcome and I appreciate all of your comments and enjoy reading all of your posts! I hope you all have a wonderful holiday and a Happy New Year!

FOTD: Brown Sugar and Falsies

For this look it started out as just my plain everyday look with just a simple brown sparkly shadow, but then at the last minute I decided to add the falsies, just to try them out. They are from e.l.f. and they came with my haul that I posted previously. They worked pretty well, but I think I like lashes that are not as thick, and are more wispy and natural looking. But I liked how they made my eyes look, I would wear these probably more for a special occasion or a night out.

Top 14 Makeup Removers

I don't know about you guys, but I am always on the lookout for makeup removers that are gentle, but effective. Right now I am using a eye makeup remover that I got from CVS, actually it is just the CVS brand, but it works really well! I was surprised at how well it dissolved my eye makeup without any rubbing or tugging on my eyes. Anyways, if you guys are in the market for a new makeup remover, check out these top rated ones and see if any of them will work for you!

Storage Ideas

I've noticed that a lot of people share how they store their makeup and beauty items, so I thought I would jump on the wagon :) I store all my stuff in the bathroom because I don't have a vanity in my bedroom (plus the boyfriend probably wouldn't want a bunch of "girly crap" taking up all the space!) in a plastic organizer cart that I got from Target for about $13.00(?).

This thing works great because it has three large bottom drawers, and four smaller drawers on top. I use the top shelves to store my makeup, and the bottom drawers store my hair dryer, hair brush, lotions, and various other crap that I cram in there :p I also store some of my jewelry in one of the smaller drawers and hang the rest on a sarong on the wall:

This is a great way to keep my jewelry organized, prevents my necklaces and earrings from being entangled, and also adds some color to my bathroom :)

So even though I like my current setup, I have a habit where I like to change things up after a bit, so I have been looking for new ways to store my makeup. I found these great storage containers for makeup at Target:

These look like they would be great for makeup storage, and would fit nicely on a vanity top or even in a drawer or cabinet. I also found these jewelry organizers at Target as well (I love Target, in case you couldn't tell), and I was actually thinking they might make good brush holders or you could put compacts or small palettes in them:

I'm really liking the larger jewelry holder  more and more :) I just may have to get me some!

Anyways, I hope these give you guys some new ideas on what type of storage is  out there! You can find all of these items on the Target website for around $8.50-$13.00.

Sorry no new posts yet!

I have been really busy and tired, finals are this week-blah! I am working on a video tutorial and having a hell of a time editing it! So I will do a post as soon as I get a chance :)

e.l.f. Haul: Product Reviews and Swatches

I finally got to play around with some of the makeup I got. For the most part I am pretty happy with everything, especially for paying so little and getting so much. I love the large makeup kit, I know I will be having a lot of fun with the eyeshadows and creating different looks. So the first thing I want to talk about is the Eye Transformer palette. It consists of four pale shades: a light sea green, a pale yellow, pale baby pink, and a light baby blue. These shadows are great to wear for a sheer wash of iridescent color, or you can take it the next level and transform your darker shadows into new shades. Below is a picture of the four shades that I layered over plain black eyeshadow:

On top are the four shades by themselves. Pretty cool, right? They look soo pretty over the black shadow!

Next is a swatch of the bronzer compact I got in Golden:

These are very pretty and very shimmery, the lightest color makes a great highlighter! (Sorry my arm looks kinda gross in the pics, I don't know what's up with my camera lately!)

I didn't want to swatch all the colors in the eyeshadow kit, so I just did a few that I really liked:

I really like all the colors in this kit. They are pretty much all shimmery, some more than others, and there are a few shades that are just repeated in darker hues, but overall they are all really nice and pretty pigmented.

There are four bronzers in the kit:

Once again, they are pretty shimmery (ok for the sake of repeating myself, let's just assume everything is shimmery unless otherwise stated :) )

Six blushes:

I love the bright pink one and the orangey-peachy one!

Same with the eyeshadows, I didn't want to swatch all the lipsticks so I just chose a few:

These are all pretty sheer, so if you are looking for an intense color, this wouldn't be the place to get it, but they go on very smoothly. I would compare them more to a lipgloss or  tinted lipbalm even.

These are the seven lipglosses I got, I don't know which ones are which exactly because I didn't keep them in order, sorry! :)

I love these glosses, they are very shimmery and pretty, and not sticky at all! A few tend to have a kinda funky smell at first, but you get used to it after awhile :)

These are the two blushes I got, the pink one is Mellow Mauve, and the other is Peachy Keen. I guess a lot of reviewers compared them to the NARS blushes.

Sorry, the peach one was really hard to get to show up on my arm because my arm is way darker than my face :(

And last but not least, here is a picture of me after using the face primer, complexion perfection, and the pressed powder, plus one of the eyeshadows and glosses, sorry I can't remember which ones though!

I would have to say that I am pretty happy with everything. Obviously these are not high end department store cosmetics, but they get the job done well for a good price. I think my favorite items that I got were the lipglosses, the eye transformer, and the eyeshadow kit. Heck, I'm not really that picky, so I pretty much like everything, and even the things I don't like that much I always find a use for, I guess I'm just stingy that way :) The face primer felt really good going on and seemed to last for awhile, and althought the complexion perfection didn't quite live up to my expectations, it was still good enough to use as a setting powder, although beware, because if you use too much, it might make you look a little whiter. I'm not really going to go over everything else because I don't want this post to be even longer, but if anyone has any questions about the other stuff I got, just let me know. Hope you enjoyed the review! :)
