For those girls with monolids (such as myself) or those with uneven creases, eyelid tape or glue is a like a godsend. It can create the appearance of a crease and make your eyes bigger and rounder without having to pay for costly surgery. However, there has been a debate amongst those who see it as trying to make oneself appear more "white" and comparing it to surgeries such as breast enlargement or things of that nature. There are many famous people in Asia that use it on a daily basis and it has become quite popular. I myself have never used it, and until a few days ago I never really even knew what it was exactly (I'm from California and I was adopted by white parents, so I have never had a traditional Asian upbringing or been exposed to Asian methods of beauty). Lately though I have been curious as to whether or not to try it, and before anyone jumps on me for this, please let me explain why. When I was younger, I constantly felt out of place for being Asian and was teased a lot because of my eyes and the way I talked (there weren't very many Asians where I lived and went to school). Now that I am older, I appreciate my ethnicity and embrace it, but I still am self conscious about my eyes, not because I don't like having Asian eyes (because I love being Asian!) but because I have a lot of skin on my eyelids, and it drapes over my lashes so that you can't see them, and also smudges my eyeliner (even though I apply eyeliner to the top lashline, when you look straight at me you can't even see it because of the amount of skin). This makes my eyes appear droopy and tired sometimes, which is why I am considering using the eyelid tape. I would just like any opinions, suggestions, or any helpful tips that you guys could provide. Have any of you used eyelid tape or glue before? What were your experiences?
